FDU CMAA wins Student Chapter of the Year!
FDU’s student chapter was chosen by a panel of judges from the CMAA, earning the accolade due to its outstanding work, attending CMAA events, and the accomplishments of student chapter members. With the triumph, FDU’s student chapter will receive a $1,000 grant for students to attend the CMAA World Conference in 2022.
CMAA is the largest professional association for managers of membership clubs with over 40 student chapters across the nation. FDU’s CMAA club was founded in 2003 and is the only student chapter based in New Jersey. It offers opportunities for students to learn about the private club industry and club management professions, gain practical experiences through internships and gain professional experiences.
“By attending numerous educational events, faculty meetings, board meetings, and networking events this past year, we have created a virtual community of club managers and faculty who are committed to our students’ successes,” says Kane Pappas, faculty advisor and assistant to the director of the International School of Hospitality, Sports and Tourism Management.
“The professional development opportunities provided by CMAA and the New Jersey CMAA chapter enhance our hospitality degree program and enable our students to thrive in the industry. It is wonderful to reflect on what we have accomplished together this past year,” Pappas says.
